Bobby is home sick today but Katie went to school.
My wife and I went for a drive this morning to Royston and back. We were thinking of getting coffee or lunch but ended up just driving. We talked about the changes in the US and how to move forward. She also told me that Katie’s viola teacher thinks that she might have ADHD…which I definitely think is wrong. She’s just got a very “highly sensitive mind”. She does great school work and finishes before the others. She just is sensitive, feels deeply, and her mind can go off and fill in the gaps of things that bother or concern her, for good or for bad.
We signed the kids up for 10 lessons of downhill skiing, which will start in the new year. Both kids are very excited about it. Joining a volleyball team in the new year didn’t pan out the way that Katie had hoped as it’s an adult league.
In terms of the Advent Calendar today the kids received chocolate covered marshmallow lollipops on a stick. We used to call them chocolate brooms when I was a kid. They sure are more expensive now than the five cents each we used to pay growing up.
This evening Katie and I went for a drive and to pick up Starbucks, so another Daddy/Daughter Chat Day. Katie used her gift card and bought me coffee for a change (see photo to the right).
She told me about her new idea for a video channel. She wants to talk about moving to the Island and how it was rough on her and what she discovered and how she coped. There are a ton of people either moving or thinking of moving to Canada, so I think it will fit into a viewership niche very nicely. She’s very excited about it, and that’s the key. Being joyful and loving what you do is half the battle. It might not pan out exactly as she thinks right now, but from a place of joy and happiness some good will certainly come from it. Who knows, she might be the next Emma Chamberlain!
