Day #5461 – (Wed., Dec. 18, 2024) – Auto Gate Stops!

In Katie’s online business class last night they discussed stocks. The photo to the right shows the various topics they went over.

The automatic gate stopped working this morning. As a result my wife couldn’t get out to take Bobby to school. He took his bike instead. Once the sun came up (it comes up late these days) she was able to see the pin that hooks onto the mechanism, and after pulling it out, was able to get the van out and take Katie to school.

We called up Maureen to contact the guy who put up our automatic gate and he is supposed to call us. He was a friend of Carolyn’s, our neighbor, so we could always contact him via that route. These automatic doors seem to have all kinds of complications. I’m thinking of going around the neighborhood, finding those houses that have automatic gates that we like, and leaving them a Christmas card and hopefully contact us to let us know if they had good experiences with the company that installed their gate. If I was younger I know what business I would be building… 🙂

In terms of the Advent Calendar, the kids got a candy flashlight today (see photo to the left).

There was a group viola/violin class this evening for Saturday’s recital. Katie hates this class and is thinking of quitting. I guess there was a new boy there this evening and Katie was in awe of his playing. Katie also complimented Keenan on his playing.

I mentioned to Katie that with the Christmas holiday coming up, if she wanted to, she could create a video a day like Emma Chamberlain did when she started her channel. Who knows, one of them might go viral by the time she goes back to school. She said that she was going to work on the channel, but was not sure about putting up this many videos. She wants to focus on quality more than quantity.
