Day #5465 – (Sun., Dec. 22, 2024) – Skiing Winter Wonderland!

Yesterday was the shortest day of the year. Starting from today, the days will be getting longer and longer. Do I feel much of a difference today? Nope… But I am hopeful. There is talk of the US getting rid of daylight savings time this year so we’ll see…

My wife took the kids cross country skiing this afternoon. There was a lot of snow, blowing and falling, so it was effectively a “Skiing Winter Wonderland”! This is the most snow that the kids have ever been in (see photo to the right)! The perfect snow/water ratio consistency for building a snowman, or a snowball fight!

After skiing they went to the small cafe for lunch and some hot chocolate (see photo to the left)! They are liking these skiing outings so much that they are considering purchasing skis to save on rentals. Too bad daddy’s legs wouldn’t hold up!

In terms of the Advent Calendar there are only a few days left. The kids got ring pops today, which has been a standby candy for them throughout the years.

I found another pole in the chicken coop so I put it up this afternoon. Now the chickens will have another area to roost in rather than sitting in and “pooping in” their nesting area. Well, when I went to check on them this evening all three were in the nesting area and none on the poles… Go figure!

We’re thinking of watching a documentary each week to broaden our horizons and learn about various topics. The idea is that each week one of us will choose which one to watch. We might have to choose one that Bobby would like first, such as UFO’s or prehistoric sharks!
