Day #5466 – (Mon., Dec. 23, 2024) – First Documentary Night

There was a break in the rain today! After days of raining for the previous week or so, and it forecast to start raining again tomorrow, now’s the time to get some things done!

First up, I tackled the “chicken coop”. It needed a good cleaning and a solution to the chickens “pooping” in their nesting area. I put up another pole I found to make another roosting area, and used some duct tape and cardboard to put tops on the nesting boxes. Let’s see if this helps the chickens to roost on the poles instead of the boxes! The chickens seem to eat a lot more food in the winter months, so I stopped off and got some more chicken feed as well.

I stopped off at the dental office to pick up a prescription for my dental appointment on Friday, then over to Courtenay Pharmacy, at their new location, to drop it off.

This evening we had our first “Documentary Night”. Bobby chose a documentary about the Universe but it was rather boring so we stopped watching it and started to watch a different documentary about the “Black Plague”. I made some spaghetti in the Instant Pot that I thought the family would enjoy, but I forgot that they don’t like spices!

This evening we took a drive to see “Candy Lane”, an area behind the Great Canadian Superstore where the community puts up a lot of Christmas lights. We also drove down to Virginia Drive to see the “Christmas Trucks” parading through the community (see photo to the right). We got behind them and followed them for a bit… Some people laughed as they thought we were part of the parade… 🙂

I sent an email to Katie’s guitar teacher at Vanier but no reply as of yet, probably due to the Christmas vacation. So, I went ahead and ordered a classical guitar kit for anyway. It’s a great beginner’s model, with a case, picks, capo, etc. We can always get her a more expensive guitar if she decides to keep it up.
