This afternoon I took Bobby out for Daddy/Son Day #89! We ended up at the “Codes Country Lanes” in downtown Courtenay, which is the oldest bowling alley in the entire province of British Columbia. They don’t have any parking, but I was able to park at the library parking lot across the street.

I read a couple of reviews online that the lady at the front desk will yell at you if you go too far into the bowling alley with your normal street shoes. I made sure to tell Bobby this and we “minded our manners” as soon as we entered into the building! The woman at the front desk was Lori, I’m not sure if this is the same lady who yells at people.
It’s a tiny little alley, and “5 Pin Bowling” at that, but Bobby and I had a good time. We played two games, and Bobby almost beat me on the second game (see photo to the left). He said he enjoyed himself so we will probably be back at some point. He was thirsty so Lori let him have a couple of glasses of water from the tap, and he purchased a bag of Doritos as a snack. The total for two games, the shoes, the Doritos, and “free” tap water was $27.10… Not bad for an afternoon outing!
For the last day of the Advent Calendar for this year the kids received chocolates. Tomorrow is Christmas, when the “Big Gun” presents come out!
I had to go pick up a prescription at Courtenay Pharmacy, and there was a Wendy’s nearby, so Bobby wanted to go there to eat. I didn’t get anything, but he got a cheeseburger kids meal and a large chocolate Frosty.
This evening we were thinking of watching another biography but my wife and daughter were not feeling well so we skipped that idea. I wanted to drive around Courtenay to see what would be open on Christmas Eve, and my wife wanted to go for a drive to hopefully feel better, so we ended up driving around and looking at the Christmas lights. As predicted, “almost” nothing was open. Tim Horton’s and McDonalds were open, but I suspect that they would be closing soon for Christmas Eve as well…
Today is the first time since Katie was little that we didn’t call NORAD to find out where Santa was. The kids have just outgrown it…
