I picked up Bobby at Huband after school today (see photo to the left). It was a great day in which the sun came out… 🙂 Yesterday Ken told us that this was a mild winter and he was amazed that we didn’t have a frost yet. Bobby told me that he met a new friend, a German boy named “Asca”, who just moved here and started school at Huband. I told him that if he shows him around and helps him out he will have a friend for life. I told him just imagine how you felt on your first day and how much you would appreciate someone doing the same.
Bobby and I were supposed to get our hair cut today but she is sick.
We are in the process of getting the kids their Canadian passports.
After picking Katie up I went to Vanier to pick up Katie. We went for a drive around town and I stopped off at Costco to get some gas. Katie was hungry so we went to the McDonalds on Guthrie Road. She got a cheeseburger and fries via coupon and a small “red” Fruitopia which I paid for. She said that the fries and cheeseburger bun were not good…I think something is off about this little McDonalds. They still don’t have any $5 coupon books…
Katie told me that she is going out with Shanti and a couple of older girls this weekend. She misses her friends in Chapel Hill, but she is trying here, which is good.

I’ve been doing a bit of investigation in regards to housing in Victoria. They have 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom condos there for about $589,000. One of them is a 2 km (29 minute) walk to the University of Victoria building where they teach business (see photo to the right). Interestingly enough, this is the same distance that I walked from my apartment in Halifax to the library in Dalhousie University, and I loved that walk. All amenities such as groceries, shops, and stores are within walking distance, so no car is needed.
I did a bit more investigation and 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom condos in Vancouver near the building where the University of British Columbia teaches business go for around $989,000. The distance is even shorter, in some cases half the distance. As is the case in Victoria, no car is needed.
I’m not sure if Katie will actually go to any of these places for college, but it’s nice to have a little background knowledge of these things in case she does…
