Katie went to school today but Bobby is home sick. Incidentally, the school buses here are yellow. You can see one outside Huband in the photo to the right.
I asked Copilot about school buses and here is what it said: “The decision to standardize the color of school buses to yellow was made by Dr. Frank W. Cyr in 1939. Dr. Cyr, a professor at Teachers College, Columbia University, organized a conference in New York City to establish national standards for school buses. The goal was to improve safety and reduce costs by creating uniform specifications for construction and design. The color yellow was chosen because it is highly visible and conspicuous, even in low light conditions. This makes it easier for other drivers to see the bus from a distance and recognize that children are boarding or disembarking. The specific shade, known as National School Bus Glossy Yellow, was selected for its legibility and distinctiveness. Dr. Cyr’s efforts led to the adoption of 44 national standards for school buses, and he is often referred to as the “Father of the Yellow School Bus“.
I see that the “soft” guitar case that I ordered for Katie is due to be delivered by next Monday. Plenty of time as her guitar class at Vanier doesn’t begin till the end of the month. By the way, her guitar teacher never responded to my email regarding the best type of guitar to get for her… I’m glad I didn’t wait to their response before buying it now…
The new pool cues, cue holder, rack, and chalk were delivered today!
My wife picked up Katie at Vanier this afternoon and drove her to the orthodontist. They put a new bracket on one of her teeth that is coming out.
Katie is meeting up with Shanti and two older girls from her French class, Kamila and Elizabeth, this Friday night. They plan to go to Ardene in the Driftwood Mall. Katie tells me that this is the only place that has nice fashion in the Courtenay area. I wonder if she should try some of those little boutique stores in downtown Courtenay or downtown Comox?
Los Angeles is burning this evening!!!
