Day #5486 – (Sun., Jan. 12, 2025) – Comox Marina

The kids seem to have recovered quite well from skiing all day yesterday.

Bobby got into a bit of trouble today. He was playing with people online that he didn’t know. We are trying to limit not only his time, but his interaction with strangers. I sent my wife some info on how to set up parental controls on the Facebook VR headset that he got for Christmas. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

I took Katie out for Daddy/Daughter Day #152 today. We went to McDonalds, at her request, for a “Cheeseburger EVM” (Extra Value Meal), and then drove around a bit. I picked up a large black coffee. No coupons today! We ended up at the marina in downtown Comox, and noted the unusual architecture of what appears to be the office (see photo to the right)

Katie is freaking out a bit about going to Lithuania this summer and meeting people that she doesn’t know. I tried to calm her down and have her focus on the positive aspect of this…she will finally be able to meet and develop the extended family she has always wanted. This seemed to calm her down.

Wouldn’t you know it, the cue holder that we bought via Amazon came broke. Nothing too major, just the area where the the ping pong balls are held. I can probably fix it with some wood glue and a screw when I get the time, but the point is, why are things that are shipped to the Island via Amazon arriving damaged? Well, I shouldn’t be so inclusive… Just the pool table and this cue holder. Maybe the company that sells them doesn’t pack them well enough, or the actual shipping company is a bit too rough.
