Today is “President’s Day” in the US and “Family Day” here in Canada. No school for the kids today, but Ethan did go to school in the US.
Katie has updated the collage on her wall to include a cityscape (see photo to the right). She says that thinking of big cities, and especially Vancouver, helps keep her spirits up. It also helps her remember that there is life after high school.
The snow has melted so when I opened the gate to the chicken coop this morning they ran right out. For some reason they don’t like walking in the snow. Whether because it’s new, or too cold on their feet, or too slippery, I don’t know. I just know that if there is snow out there they will stay inside the coop and wait for conditions to improve.
Bobby pretty well played with Ethan all day. He did do some puzzles with his mother as well.
Katie met up with Merrill, who plays viola with her in the orchestra, at a coffee shop today. She brought her relative Ann, who will be going to Vanier next year, for Katie to meet. Katie says that she is doing workplace math, and is into rugby, so she might be just another “sporty mean girl” that she won’t get along with. I told her to keep her options open and she might be pleasantly surprised as to what she is like on the inside.
