The Japan Earthquake was over two months ago (and we had our own tornado alert last month). I was watching a television show from NOVA about the earthquake in Japan this morning, and it only heightens the realization that we have to be prepared for natural disasters (especially now that we have Katie). We really should get an emergency radio that will broadcast weather warnings. After a little bit of research this one (shown via photo and link to the left), the Midland Consumer Radio WR-120B NOAA Weather Alert, looks like a great deal.

WR-120B Radio – Great For A Japan Earthquake Or Similar

Here’s what I liked about this radio the most: It allows users to program the radio to sound an alert only when weather and other emergencies threaten a selected county or counties. The technology eliminates all alerts from other areas, so users won’t have to perk up their ears each time the alert sounds only to find the emergency is actually 100 miles up the highway. If you live in a hurricane or tornado area like we do this is a “must”. Let’s get one…

Katie loves the organic blackberries that I got from Trader Joe’s the other day. The only problem is…they make quite the mess with Katie at the helm…

When Katie was in the highchair I tried to change the television station off of her beloved Lawrence Welk. She started to squawk and said something like “I’m watching that”. She did that a number of times. She won out…the Lawrence Welk Network is alive and well in our house.

My mother and sister tried to get ahold of us via Skype this morning. We had a nice chat and video conference and they loved seeing all of Katie’s antics. At one point Katie went down to her nursery to get a sleeping sack and brought it back with part of it in her mouth…she is still teething…

We bundled up our little chipmunk after she had her nap and took her on a shopping spree. First we went to Kid2Kid to get some shoes for Katie (her feet are growing like mad and she has outgrown all her current shoes). This is the first time we heard her say momma (she would run around the store then back to see her “momma”). She also would pick up a shoe and say “match” for some reason?

Next stop was Target so my wife could return some stuff and to also pick up some organic bananas for Katie and other supplies.

On the way home we stopped off at DJ’s Berry Patch to get some organic strawberries for Katie. They didn’t have any already picked so my wife picked some while I watched Katie. They had a turtle near their store that Katie kept trying to pick up (see photo above).

WHAT I LEARNED TODAY
———————————

1) We need to get an emergency radio for tragedies like the Japan Earthquake.

2) Katie sure loves her “bosh”.
