Day #529 (Thu., June 16, 2011) – Our New Babysitter

I gave Katie some of the “Harvest Bread” that I got at Trader Joe’s the other day. She loved it. She’s not much into the crust, but if it is nice and soft she comes back for more.

I got a notepad yesterday to keep track of my notes and “ToDo’s”. It has a little pen attached and once Katie saw it she couldn’t take her eyes off it. She would try to grab for it and yell “patch”… I eventually had to hid it.

We interviewed our new baby sitter today. We think that she will work out great. She has one daughter who just graduated from college with a degree in Architecture. She has worked as a private pre-school teaching and is looking for a job to supplement her income. We are planning on her starting next Friday. She will be working Monday – Friday from 1pm-5pm.

Katie seems to really like the new babysitter. While we were talking with her Katie would go over to her and lean on her chair (she was sitting in the LazyBoy). Katie pointed at the beads on her blouse. Our new babysitter is into dancing, so Katie will certainly love all that. She also mentioned that she would like to teach her some “sign language”. We said “go for it”. It can only help…we are just too busy to do that ourselves…

The photo to the right shows one of Katie’s books. It has “Googley Eyes” (which basically fit through the hole in the cover of the book). As you can see from the photo Katie has managed to stuff her sleeping sack through these holes.

I played with Katie on the deck this evening. I was blowing bubbles and Katie wanted to take a shot. Trouble is, she wants to eat the bubbles rather than blow them. The wand goes from the soap liquid into her mouth. It is non-toxic, but nonetheless, it can’t be good for her. I tried to put it away but she kept screaming and pointing to it. I distracted her by pouring buckets of water into the green turtle sandbox/pool and she splashed about for a bit.

Katie went to bed at 9pm this evening… Let’s hope she sleeps through the night.
