Day #532 (Sun., June 19, 2011) – Bond Park Playground

We are running out of berries and goats milk so I did a run to Trader Joe’s this afternoon. I told them that we got a pint of blackberries a few weeks ago that were moldy, so they gave me this week’s pint for free.

Katie managed to climb up on my LazyBoy this afternoon so there will be no stopping her now.

I gave Katie one of those huge twist ties that I used to hang the duct work in the garage. You can coil it into a ring, but once you let go of it it will transform back into a long piece of plastic. Katie was fascinated with this and kept giving it back to me to recoil.

This evening we went to the kiddie’s playground in Bond Park. Katie enjoyed playing in the sand and on the various slides, but she mostly liked running around and picking up acorns and other things to organize. I noticed that Katie was doing her “swan” impersonation… She would run around with her two arms held out straight behind her (like the wings of a swan). She also met a new friend (see photo to the left).

While we were at the park this evening one of the parents mentioned that Katie says a lot of words and can really communicate with us…like nodding her head or saying when she wants “juice”.

Katie likes “Oswald” the best of any of the animated television shows we have available. She likes to snuggle up to daddy on the bed in the bedroom and watch it. She is not normally a very affectionate child, so this is one of the few times that she will come close to you for some comfort. If you say “give daddy a kiss” she will run as fast as she can in the other direction. I was probably a lot like this when I was younger.
