Day #584 (Wed., Aug 10, 2011) – The “Non-Stop” Carousel

I went to Trader Joe’s at noon today. I was going to take my mother-in-law and Katie but Katie was still asleep. They didn’t have any organic raspberries so I got some frozen organic raspberries instead.

I stopped off at the Dollar Store and got some packets of stickers for Katie (see photo to the right). I also got here three little books…all three for only $1.

This evening we all went to the Cary Mall. I took care of Katie while my mother-in-law and wife went to JC Penney’s to shop. Right from the start Katie ran up to the carousel and wanted a ride. Katie could not wait for my wife and mother-in-law to return so we went for a couple of rides. As soon as the operator opened the gate Katie ran up and sat on the bench…which was where we sat her the last time we were here. When the ride ended Katie didn’t want it to stop. She started to cry with real tears rolling down her face. So, I took her on a second trip. This time I sat her on a horse and she loved it (because of the up and down motion and because after all, it’s a horse).

When my wife and mother-in-law returned they took Katie on the carousel again. I took some video and pictures of them from the railing.

One thing I noticed while we were at the mall. They have fancy shopping carts that are shaped like cars. Katie loved getting inside them, but as I didn’t have a $1 coin we couldn’t take them out for a spin. The good thing is that once you return the cart you get your $1 back. I’ll have to keep this in mind for the next time we are here.

WHAT I LEARNED TODAY

1) Katie sure loves the carousel.
