Day #873 (Fri., May 25, 2012) – Hi Grandma
It is good that we are getting a landscape crew to remove all the dead trees from our property. Take a look at the photo to the left. These trees will fall on the house if they are left standing and snakes love to live in them. Bye Bye…
We had a Skype session this evening with my mother. Since this is Memorial Day weekend and so much is going on we wanted to make sure we called her tonight just in case we got too busy. I asked Katie to say hi to grandma and she crouched down in front of the laptop and said “Hi Grandma”. My mother got to see her painting and running around the house…which is the norm these days.
This evening my wife took Katie out for a walk. They ended up at our neighbor Lucy’s place. Unfortunately she was not at home so they could not see her dog…which posed a problem. Katie cried and cried and my wife had to carry her home.
While they were out I did manage to get a bit of preparatory work done in the kitchen area. I moved the fridge to the side to expose the floor, swept the floor, and measured out some dimensions. The plan is to go to bed early tonight and get up in the middle of the night and put down some more portland cement to flatten out any rough spots. Once the floor is completely flat I will be able to start lying down the tiles. Why the middle of the night you ask? There are no small children around “helping me” at that hour…and it will hopefully be dry in the morning before they “appear”…
