At 6:15 am this morning Katie started crying. My wife went to get her and here is what she found:
“…a naked child – she managed to take her PJs last night… I gave her a pacifier, turned the music on, tucked her in and she is sleeping again… And I am so up – will have to take a nap later…”
We had a Skype session with my mother this afternoon. Katie made it clear that she was the princess of the house. I’m the dog, my wife is the cat, and my mother is the giraffe…
This evening we bundled up Katie and took her to Maple View Farms for a sleigh ride. She was very active and energetic til the moment that Santa came and started doing all the Ho Ho Ho. I think this scared her as she was very subdued during the rest of the evening. I don’t think sitting next to St. Nick on the actual sleigh ride helped things much either.
The sleigh was pulled by a tractor rather than a horse (see photo to the right), which was a bit of a downer. There were also few lights, so we tripped a couple of times getting into it. The ride went past various Christmas light displays and farm animals then back to the main center where the children had milk and cookies and got to sit on Santa’s lap. Katie really didn’t want to sit on Santa’s lap but she got a free Christmas present out of the deal so she was willing to be coaxed.
Santa gave the children a $1.00 off coin for a Maple View Farms ice cream so we stopped off on the way home.
