It was raining “cats & dogs” as I drove Katie to Glenwood this morning. I told her that we are going to start to do memorization games as this will be good for her in the future. We’ll start off with trying to remember various objects by utilizing a story. For example: house, cow, kite, sun, garbage can and raccoon. Katie had a hard time remembering all these items so I told her to come up with a story like: A cow was up on a house flying a kite. The sun came up and melted the kite and hit fell into a garbage can hitting a raccoon. Katie then came up with six items of her own: bench, skeleton, garden, watering can, breeze, and car. I told her that a skeleton was sleeping on a bench when he suddenly awoke and remembered he needed to water his garden with a watering can. While he was doing this a breeze came and blew the water onto a passing car.
My wife talked to Arnesa about taking over with the kids in our absence and she agreed almost on the spot. She asked her if she wanted to ask Dzenen first, but she said he would certainly be okay with it. They love the kids and I guess that they talk about them all the time at home.
Bobby found the trap door on top of the fire station that we got for him at the consignment sale on Monday. He loved opening it and throwing the fireman down it (see photo to the right).
My wife took Katie to her first piano lesson this afternoon. It is with Miss Laura, Katie’s former preschool teacher. It will be nice for my wife to go as she has always wanted to learn piano and they can both practice together at home. Maybe I can accompany them on guitar from time-to-time and Bobby can bang on the drums.
My wife spent most of the day cleaning up the house. It’s amazing how much mess two little kids can make.
