On the drive to Glenwood this morning Katie wanted to play “Bigger Than A Breadbox”. We used items out of the Halloween theme like pumpkin, witch, skeleton and vampire. Katie also mentioned that tomorrow she could talk about her upcoming birthday party as mom said we had to get Halloween over first.
I left work at 4pm today so that I could pick up some ice at the service station for the beer we planned to put on ice. Arnesa and Genen arrived as stable boy and wife to tend to Katie and Bobby, who were both ponies (see photo to the left). My wife and I dressed up as a farmer and his wife, the owner of the two ponies.
We assembled with other families at our usual street corner at 5:45pm to go trick-or-treating at the various houses. I drove the car to the corner and left a bit early so that I could tend to the grill. I fired it up and there were grilled hot dogs and hamburgers for everyone when they arrived at our place for the Halloween party. Arnesa and others mentioned how they could smell the aroma all the way to the street corner. I tended to the grill all by myself and we had just enough food for everyone. I worked out quite well this year. Everyone wanted to just stay outside under the carport next to the grill and talk and eat and drink beer. The kids did assemble inside around our dining room table to do crafts and assemble the Haunted Gingerbread House I got at Trader Joe’s.
We thought it would be hard to put the kids to bed this evening but they were exhausted with all the festivities. As soon as they wound down they were out…great as both mommy and daddy were tired as well.
