Day #2613 (Tue., Feb. 28, 2017) – Adding Some Chicken Wire
That raccoon is quite the animal. He managed to get the snickers bar we put in the cage last night. The wrapper was strewn about the floor. I don’t think he is actually going into the trap. He’s going around it and someone using his fingers to get those chocolate treats. It looks like the next step is to put some chicken wire up to ensure that he actually goes into the trap.
On the drive to Glenwood this morning Katie espoused her belief that animals should not be killed. I asked her about dangerous animals and she said that people should find a zoo keeper as they know how to handle these sorts of things.
This afternoon I went to Home Depot and got some chicken wire, staples, and regular wire. Look out raccoon, here I come…
This evening I put the chicken wire up (see photo to the right) so that the raccoon will have no way of going around the cage. Either he goes into the cage, or rips through the chicken wire as the door will prevent him from exiting out of the building. I let Katie put lots of chocolate down for bait.
I sure don’t like that look of delight and glee that Bobby has on his face when he throws something at you…
