Day #2727 (Thu., Jun. 22, 2017) – Google Conference In Durham

2017-06-22 - Future ToiletI went to a conference at the Museum Hotel in downtown Durham today. One interesting thing about this hotel is the “futureistic” toilets they have. The walls don’t become opaque until you lock the door (see photo to the left).

The conference was hosted by Google, and they went over their Apage Software. Very interesting… Brian Pagano was very informed on AI and what businesses need to succeed in this fast-moving tech world in which we live. The event itself had it’s challenged. We could not get internet service for the afternoon. It is suspected that the people working on the building next door cut a cable or something. They couldn’t find the hotel manager to get the gift bags for us. In the end, the gift bags were nothing to write home about. Some Burt’s Bees lotion, slippers that said “I Love Durham”, and a postcard. I would have thought that they could have brought some cool things from Google for us. I think I will give the “I Love Durham” slippers to Katie.

Bobby had another swimming lesson today. My wife showed me the ritual they went through. She would blow and then dunk her head, then blow in Bobby’s face and dunk his head.

Katie had her piano lesson as well. Miss Laura, Katie’s piano teacher, is off to China for the summer. Maybe Katie will be on the same program when she gets older.
