Day #2760 (Tue., Jul. 25, 2017) – Xmas In July
The girls (and Bobby) didn’t have much time to finish off their “Christmas in July” plans that the devised yesterday as Jasmine and family and my wife and Katie and Bobby went to the Science Museum in Durham today. Katie did wrap up a present for me though (see photo to the left). She said that she took the book off my bookcase. A “repurposed” present.
Bobby got a chance to ride on the train and was very excited about that. Katie got to see the butterflies and my wife told me that she spent a lot of time making buildings out of the big building blocks that they have. Did Katie know that today is exactly 6 months after December 25th, the real “Christmas Day”?
Tonight I mentioned to Katie that we have a way for her to get “Chip The Robot Dog” that she has been talking about ever since she saw it on television. We’re going to devise a spreadsheet with a number of tasks that she will have to perform each day in order to win points. As soon as she accumulates the required number of points we will buy her the robot dog. If she doesn’t complete a certain task that does not mean that she will not get the dog, just that it will be delayed as she will not get the required number of points for that particular task.
I went down to Katie’s bedroom to talk to her about it after my wife went over her piano lessons. We watched some videos of “Chip” in action. As I was leaving her room she asked if she could be the owner of “Chip” and I said certainly. It will be her dog to do with as she wished. She yelled with joy and then went off to bed.
