Day #2892 (Wed., Dec. 6, 2017) – No Preschool For Bobby

2017-12-06 - Dunkin DonutsKatie was still not feeling well this morning but I took her to school anyway. We told her that if she was sick to just tell the teacher and we would come and get her. The last we heard she was doing her math homework and doing fine.

Bobby didn’t go to school today. He stayed home with his mommy due to his cough. My wife was wiped out by the time I got home as Lizzy was out sick. Lizzie probably got what Bobby had.

I talked a bit to Lisa at work about Katie this morning. She said:

We are currently dealing with Katie having upset stomachs in the morning and not wanting to go to school. Doctor can find nothing wrong with her. She’s a sensitive child and we think she has a nervous stomach… Ever dealt with anything like that in your life?

Actually when I was in 4th grade I would often get sick because I didn’t want to go to school. And I was legitimately sick, not pretending. Most of the time my parents wouldn’t make a big deal about it and just let me stay home. I was afraid of my teacher and had a lot of social anxiety. It got better the next year.

I think that this is exactly the situation she is facing. My sister was this way. Any advice on how to proceed? We kept her home the last two days and today just suggested she go and would come get her if she got sick. Last we heard she was fine.

I think you’re doing the best thing you can–just by letting her know she can come home if she needs to. Life is tough for kids. Sometimes we think they don’t have anything to stress about, but really … they have so little control of their lives 🙁

I brought Katie home a donut from Dunkin Donuts for her going to school today despite feeling sick (see photo to the left).

Instant Pot rice & beans this evening. Worked out great.
