Day #4168 (Fri., Jun 4, 2021) – 5th Grade Teacher Gifts

Today is technically Katie’s last day at Glenwood and Bobby’s last day in kindergarten. They are having graduation next week.

Due to Katie’s ear infection there is no swimming in the pool for a week.

I went for a walk with Bobby around the neighborhood this afternoon. He enjoyed splashing in the mud puddles (see photo to the right).

My wife has been organizing the effort to get gifts for Katie’s 5th grade teachers. Here’s the initial note she sent out:

Subject: Gifts for the 5th grade teachers (and the baby gift!)

Hello everyone,

It’s hard to believe that our 6 years at Glenwood are coming to an end… Let’s collect money for teacher gifts one more last time! As you know, Ms. Smith-Thomas is having a baby soon, it would be nice to have a present for her too. I remember Ms. Hatley was over the moon after receiving her baby-gift. ?

In winter, we collected $1020.

Here’s the follow-up note she sent out today:

Hello,

Just a quick update about teacher gifts and a baby gift for Ms. Smith-Thomas. As of now, we have collected $950. Here is the tentative distribution list, please let me know if you have suggestions:

We also received a lovely donation covering the cost of the MDL Class of 2021 Memory book for Ms. Keller and Ms. Smith-Thomas. We hope to gift the photo books to the teachers on Monday!

I plan on sending the gift cards on Monday. You can still send money to my PayPal or Venmo (with a note “For 5th grade teachers”):
