Day #4362 (Wed., Dec. 15, 2021) – Kids To Trader Joe’s
My wife took Bobby to violin class and the park this morning. Katie tagged along to go to the park as she wants to go “anywhere” these days… Such has been the effect of two years cooped up due to the pandemic.
When they returned home they wanted to come to Trader Joe’s shopping with me, so off we went. Katie pushed the cart and Bobby, as is his custom, picked up all sorts of sweets and things to put in the cart. I had to put some of them back, but I did allow them a sweet. They chose chocolate-covered marshmallows but I also let them have some fruit jellies as well (see photo to the right).
While at Trader Joe’s I took the opportunity to teach the kids a couple of lessons. Lesson #1: Reach to the back of the salad mix packages so that you will get the most fresh version. They will put the ones that will expire in a day or so towards the front of the shelves. Lesson #2: Reach to the back of the milk shelf for the freshest milk. Even if the dates are all the same, then they will benefit by being towards the back of the shelf where the temperature is cooler and there is less a chance of spoiling.
I checked the nylon sleeve on the swing rope this afternoon and it is holding up well.
I helped Bobby build some more of the Lego Spiderman set we got yesterday. I then sit in on his “small group” study class with him. Only he and Ethan Johnson and the teacher were there. They went over a story about pets together.
