I went to the social security office in Durham this morning for a 11 am appointment. They photocopied my documents and had me fill out a form. I’m supposed to receive social security checks starting in mid-March. I saw a report that it’s because of people like me that their are so many job openings…baby boomer early retirees.
Afterwards I drove around town looking for a replacement fuse for the one that blew out the other day (see photo to the right). The hardware store near the Harris-Teeter in Carrboro had me go to Hunts Electrical Supply on Merrit Road. They had the 15 amp ones I was looking for, so I got three. but they had to order the 30 amp ones from Burlington. They will be here on Monday.
This evening the whole family went for a 30-minute walk on Franklin Street (see photo to the right). We parked in the parking lot at Franklin & Columbia (free handicap parking till Christmas). The kids enjoyed playing on a huge tree that fell where the “Silent Sam” statue used to be.
