Day #4441 (Fri., Mar. 4, 2022) – Play Dates With Nico & Cal
I drove Bobby to Glenwood this morning. My wife put him in the car and when I got in I said “Do you think the rain will hurt the rhubarb?”. He said what? This is the question that my father used to ask me in the morning. We then started to talk about rhubarb and what it is…
Bobby also mentioned that Ethan Campbell’s mother smokes. We got into a conversation of how cigarettes have two components, nicotine, which addicts you, and tar, which attaches to your lungs and can cause cancer. He told me that they mention smoking and how bad it is in his health class.
I picked up Bobby at 2:30 pm this afternoon. On the drive home he told me that he had a cheeseburger for school lunch. I thought they usually have chicken nuggets on Friday, but perhaps they alternate. He also told me that they did “Abstract Art” in art class today, and we talked a little bit about what that meant.
When we passed a boy with a musical instrument on his back I asked Bobby if he might be playing the “Electric Banana”. He asked me if this was even a thing. I said no, but it was a funny concept. This lead to a conversation about two musical groups that were around when I was growing up, namely “Strawberry Alarm Clock” and the “1910 Fruitgum Company”.
Bobby had a playdate with Cal at his place this afternoon.
Katie went over to Nico’s house after school today. She told me that they filled out personality tests, among other things. As Katie was leaving the car this evening she said “Bye Nico”, but apparently Nico’s mother doesn’t realize that she has adopted this new name, so Katie is upset that she might have let out a secret. We talked a bit about that…
