The Queen’s Jubilee was on television early this morning (see photo to the left). I explained a bit about the significance and the parades to Bobby when he woke up around 7 am. We talked about how you could see where the horse’s “did their business” on the road…
I’m feeling much better as the antibiotics have started to really kick in. Having said that, I was up all night long, and I mean “all night long”. I could not sleep from all the coughing, so I was real tired this morning. My wife took the kids to school and picked them up in the afternoon, and I kind of “crashed” during the day I was so exhausted. I’ll be glad when I stop coughing so that I can sleep. I should be back to normal after that…
After picking the kids up my wife took them to their viola/violin lessons so I didn’t get a chance to talk to them in depth till this evening. Bobby told me that they had spaghetti today for school lunch. Katie told me that they had chicken & mac & cheese at Phillips.
Speaking of the Queen, I have always wondered how the current regime switched to German… I looked it up and here’s the answer:
Queen Anne was the last monarch of the Stuart Dynasty. None of her 17 children lived to adulthood. So, when the poor woman, who had suffered for years from gout and dropsy, died in 1714, it was necessary to import, as her nearest Protestant relation, George, Elector of Hanover. The British monarchy therefore became German. The House of Windsor as we know it today began in 1917 when the family changed its name from the German “Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.”
