Day #4742 (Fri., Dec. 30, 2022) – Zoo Visit

Since the kids are off this week we decided to celebrate Katie’s birthday today instead of on the 4th.  We’ll celebrate on the 4th as well, but today was the day in which we would have her “Birthday Party” so to speak.

Katie wanted to go to the Asheville zoo, so at 8 am this morning we pointed the van towards Asheville and my wife and I loaded up Katie, Bobby, and Katie’s friends Henry, Leah, and Tinsley (see photo to the right).  The kids were very talkative on the drive down and Henry knows a lot about animals.

Once at the zoo my wife and I let the kids roam ahead of us as they were quite fast.  They just needed to make sure that Bobby was with them.  Henry was full of energy and kept walking ahead of the rest so it was quite the chore to get him to slow down.

At the juncture point we stopped for lunch.  My wife, Tinsley, and I had the “Sticky Chicken Sandwich”.  Boy was it sticky and gooey!  Katie, Leah, and Bobby had a hot dog, and since Henry is a vegetarian the cook made him a grilled cheese sandwich.  I was quite tired so I decided to stay at the juncture for a bit and read my kindle while the others explored the Africa exhibit.  I eventually worked my way back to the van for a nap.  Not sure why I’m so tired today, but I need to be sure I’m rested for the long drive home.

Once everyone reached the end of the line they were tired and all agreed to take the tram back to the entrance.  They spent a while in the gift shop, where Katie got a snow globe.  It was then time to go home!
