Day #4804 (Thu., Mar. 2, 2023) – Bobby’s Bruise

On the drive to Glenwood this morning it was raining “Cats & Dogs”.  Bobby showed me the spot where he fell off his scooter last night.  Nasty spill (see photo to the left).

Bobby asked me about the “Car That Explodes”!  I was not sure what he was talking about at first, but it was about the Ford Pinto!  I told him about it a while back and how the gas tank was in the rear and if you “rear ended” it, it would explode.  This led to a conversation about Ralph Nader and his 1960’s book on the Corvair car “Unsafe At Any Speed”.

Just before I dropped Bobby off at Glenwood we started to talk about the various types of products that Canada has.  Such as “Shreddies” and “Alpha-Bet” cereal.  I also mentioned how America has “Moon Pies” and Canada has “Wagon Wheels”.

The kids have a viola/violin lesson this evening, but Bobby mentioned how sore his shoulder was on the drive home this evening, so we decided to let him take tonight off…  I took him out for Daddy/Son Day #63 instead.  We started off by going to McDonald’s where we both sat inside, at Bobby’s request.  First time we sat inside the McDonalds since the week before the lockdown.  We each got a Shamrock Shake for dessert, but the employee didn’t make it well, and Bobby didn’t like the “mint green” flavor.

Next up, Home Depot, where I picked up a plywood base for my laser engraver.  I showed Bobby how to use the measuring tape and explained what the term “2 by 4” meant.

Next up, Aldi.  Bobby mentioned that he had a chicken sandwich today for lunch, so I was looking for a similar patty in the freezer section, but they didn’t have any.  Maybe I’ll pick some up at Harris-Teeter the next time I’m there.  We did get milk though…

This evening my wife took Katie to viola lesson and then to see the play “Sweet Charity” at East Chapel Hill High School.  They didn’t make it home till 9:30 pm this evening so I put Bobby to bed at 7:30 pm.
