As I drove Bobby to school this morning I told him how the Boston Bruins lost in the Stanley Cup playoffs last night. They had the best record in the HISTORY of the NHL, and yet lost in the first round of the playoffs. It reminds me so much of how over 50 years ago now, when the Bruins had Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito, and they were expected to get the Stanley Cup, they got ousted in the first round of the playoffs by the Montreal Canadiens and their new goalie Ken Dryden. Hard to believe that was over 50 years ago now…
I stopped off at Trader Joe’s after dropping Bobby off. I got 4×6 = 24 little yogurt cups, the ones that Bobby loves so much. He will take a try of 6 of them to the bedroom in the evening while his mother is reading him a bedtime story before “lights out”. They won’t last long!
Katie went back to school today after the week off. Things went smoothly, but she is not too happy about it. My wife and I were thinking of having her talk to Sharon about her “Middle School Woes”. It might be nice to have an adult who is not your parents to talk to and bounce things off of.
I picked up Bobby at the bus stop this afternoon. I have this app that tells me where the bus is, but it stopped working. I’m sure glad that I arrived there on time as Bobby’s bus was there, and the app still didn’t show the bus locator. While I was waiting for Bobby I saw a baseball card (see photo to the right). Kids aren’t into cards and comics like they were when I was growing up. Roblox and Minecraft these days. Time’s have changed.
Things went fine at field day today. Bobby told me that they had this event where teams race each other with a bucket of water on their heads.
The kids had horseback riding this afternoon. I have a bad back or otherwise I would have taken them. I put some cream on my back, so hopefully I will be better tomorrow. No big drama riding the horses I guess. One point of note is that Bobby had a particularly lazy horse so it took quite a bit of work to get it to do anything…
