Day #4877 (Sun., May 14, 2023) – Mother’s Day

Today is Mother’s Day in the USA.  The kids each gave their mother a card that they made this morning.  We usually don’t “eat out” on Mother’s Day because of the lines and wait times, and the extra cost, but I did pick up an ice cream cake at Harris Teeter this afternoon, but more on that later.

I decided to have Daddy/Son Day #66 with Bobby this afternoon.  He wanted to the see Mario Brothers movie (see photo to the right), so off to the Lumina we went.  It was just over 1 1/2 hours long, so the perfect amount of time before he got too restless.  He did ask “how much longer” at one point, but it was more out of curiosity.  We picked up a “kid’s tray” (i.e.: popcorn, lemonade, and gummies) for him, and there were still a few people in the theater, but it was an enjoyable experience.  Instead of going through the front we took the “Exit Door” and it pretty well put us out where our car was parked.  Perfecto…

On the way home from the movie we stopped off at Harris Teeter to pick up an Oreo ice cream cake.  Bobby was upset that he got so little of the ice cream cake that we bought this time, so I intended to make up for this today.  We split the cake into fours, with each family member getting a quarter.  I took only a small amount of my quarter, so Bobby effectively got close to 1/2 of the cake!

Tesla has released a new version of their “autonomous driving software”, and this one is pretty close.  Katie and I watched a bit of a YouTube video on this subject this evening before I shooed her off to bed.  She likes to stay up late at night, but tomorrow is a school day.  Hard to know when FULLY self-driving automobiles will be permitted on our streets…
