I drove Bobby to school this morning and then stopped off at Panera Bread for a cup of coffee afterward. On the way we talked about “ribs” and what they were. I used my fingers to explain how cow and pig bones are aligned in the rib area and how meat and fat are situated around them. We got into a discussion about “barbeque” and how people here in the South love it. He mentioned that mom hates it, but Katie likes it. I knew that mom hated it, given our outing to a “barbeque” restaurant when she was pregnant, but I didn’t know that Katie liked it. Bobby went on to explain that he doesn’t like meat by itself, but with something, such as hamburger meat surrounded by a bun.
I went to Aldi for groceries this afternoon as we were out of almost everything. On the way I happened to see that Starbucks is moving to the open location underneath the “Top of the Hill” restaurant (see photo to the left). This is where the Italian eatery Medici was located years ago. This space has been empty since before the pandemic, so I’m sure they are glad to get a tenant. What a great location for Starbucks! Lots of room for students to sit and study and enjoy their brew!
While at Aldi I picked up some more Lepre Cones as per Bobby’s request, and also some Oreo ice cream bars (see photo to the right) which are a new item at Aldi. After picking Bobby up at the bus stop this afternoon he wanted an Oreo ice cream bar, but I would only let him have one before his pizza. I said he could have a Lepre Cone if he wanted it after his pizza. You have to set limits for the boy or he will eat them all! When Katie got home from school I told her as soon as she walked through the door that if she wanted an Oreo ice cream bar she had better get one now as I wasn’t sure how long they would last with “Bobby” around.
Katie had a rough day at school today. Three tests, which is understandable as she has to make up for those that she missed when she was sick.
