Day #5274 – (Fri., June 14, 2024) – Katie Bakes A Cake!

This morning I decided to stay at home this morning and clean up and organize the kitchen. My wife took the kids to the Courtenay pool for the first time at noon today. They allow inflatables at this pool, so Bobby really enjoyed playing with the inflatable kayak.

Here’s what I accomplished this morning:

  • Cleaned the microwave. I heated some chili the other day and it exploded!
  • Go over manuals & documents: Ninja Air Fryer, New Lawnmover, COSTO Executive Membership, etc.
  • Chase Visa – Signed up for “Go Paperless”. Should have done this a long while ago.
  • Redeemed $88.93 in reward money back to my Chase Visa.

I lost a lens to my glasses this afternoon. No worries, I have another set of glasses to use. (Note: I later found it on my bed – problem solved!).

I went to Home Depot this afternoon to get some extra mail box keys made, but unfortunately they don’t make duplicates of mailbox keys. They sent me to “Price’s Lock & Safe”, a locksmith near Canadian Tire, but it closed at 5pm. I will need to go get them on Monday. I will also pick up some “Bear Spray” while at Canadian Tire since I’m in that “Neck of the Woods”!

I went to Dollarama thinking that they would surely have some “wire”…little packages of it. I remember that the old Dollar Tree used to have it back in the “Glory Days” when prices were still only $1 per item and they were getting started in the US (probably around 1999). Alas, they did not. Not even nails or screws. As such, the chicken coop repair will need to wait till tomorrow when I go back to Home Depot.

While I was out I picked up some vanilla cake frosting for Katie. She made a vanilla cake earlier today, with Bobby’s help (see photo to the right). It turned out great, but she frosted it when it was still warm so there were a few rough spots on the top.

Regarding the chickens and the “Beans & Pasta” dish I made in the instant pot, they didn’t seem to like it. I think a big reason is that they are already being fed with our automatic chicken feeder. On the YouTube video I saw the chickens really went for this “slop”, but maybe because they were really hungry!

Bobby is enjoying his “Gaming Chair” and is eyeing a desktop computer. I think the laptop is fine for now. The last thing we need is more online time for the boy! Once I get my lawnmower assembled he can help with that, which will be good exercise for him.

Batman is really enjoying his “New Spread” in Katie’s room. Alas, my poor Robin is not here to enjoy this luxurious lifestye!
