Day #5284 – (Mon., June 24, 2024) – Florida Panthers Win!

My wife woke me up at 8:20 am this morning reminding me that we had a 9:00 am appointment at Canadian Tire to have our car inspected. I showed up at Canadian Tire for the 9 am appointment, but they said that they were trying to get ahold of us to tell us that their tech was not in today and they would have to postpone the meeting. Alas, they put 902 instead of 919 as an area code for our phone number, so they could not reach us. We had to postpone the meeting till Wednesday at 3 pm when the tech will be back.

I asked the guy at Canadian Tire about an oil change and he said that he could do this on Wednesday for me, but I opted to go to the “Great Canadian Oil Change” down the street and get it done right away. The guy changed the air filters in the van as well.

The Canadian Tire guy told me that the cracked windshield on the van would not pass inspection, so I went to the “Coastline Glass”, in Comox, which he recommended.

Cody at “Coastline Glass” told me that it would cost about $429 to replace the windshield. Since they don’t have the part in stock, they had to order it. He said to come back tomorrow at 1 pm to have it installed. Hopefully if we save our receipts we will be able to get a bit of a rebate from Erie Insurance.

2024-06-24 - Stanley Cup Finals

Next up, Quality Foods for some hot dog buns for the wife and kitty litter for Katie.

This evening was the 7th game of the Stanley Cup finals. I paid $20 for SportsNet for the month to watch it (see photo to the right). The Edmonton Oilers got on the board first, but the Florida Panthers scored two goals and that was it… The Oilers missed the chance to bring the Stanley Cup home to Canada after 31 years in the US! The kids came to watch the game with me (see photo to the left)! They brought their own snacks and made themselves at home on the bed in the “Barn Suite”. Bobby only lasted one period before heading back to the main house. Katie stayed for the whole game. My wife joined us for the last period.

After the game I showed Bobby how to adjust his bike seat so that he would not scrape his leg on the lever. As I was watching him test out his bike on the street in front of our house, our neighbor Tara and her husband walked by. This was the first time that I had the chance to actually meet her.
