Day #5320 – (Tue., July 30, 2024) – New Bedspread

Well the contractor who was supposed to stop by this morning between 9 am and noon made a mistake. He set up the appointment for today, when he meant to set it up for tomorrow. So now it’s 9 am to noon tomorrow for him to stop by and give us an estimate on automating the gate. Contractors are something else… They seem to be cut from the same cloth as those in the US.

Bobby is being punished today as he told his mother that he brushed his teeth last night and he did not. As a result, no “online activity” for him today. He played a bit in his new sandbox this afternoon.

My wife and Katie went shopping this afternoon. They went to Winners and picked up a new bedspread for the bed in the ground floor bedroom (see photo to the right). We were expecting a school friend of my wife’s and her son to come tomorrow, but it looks like they may be delayed a day or two.

Anthony, who works for “Orca Electric & Drywall”, came over close to 4 pm this afternoon to give us a quote on insulating the garage. He seemed vary knowledgeable about the various codes and requirements, and suggested we add some additional lights, and baseboard heaters. When he didn’t know if the garage door was insulated, he called up a contact to ask them. He’s going to prepare a quote for us, but it looks like it’s going to be close to $20,000 to do this job, and we will have to paint it when it is done! At any rate, I’m not sure just a handyman would know all this ins and outs of a job like this. It would be a shame to put something like this up and have to have it town down by the city of Courtenay because we missed some code or something…

Katie went out to the swing this evening to clear her thoughts and think about life. I went out from the “Barn Suite” to join her. She showed me some of the limitations of the swing. It squeaks and part of the bench could be more comfortable. I’ll add it to my “ToDo List”.
