Day #5323 – (Fri., Aug. 2, 2024) – Filberg Festival

This afternoon I dropped the wife and kids off at the Filberg Festival. There was absolutely no parking, so I circled to the end of the street and went grocery shopping. There were two bandstands and lots of music, and lots of expensive arts and crafts too. Katie picked up the sculpture shown in the photo to the left.

There was an old 1970s orange Volkswagen Beetle out front of the festival entrance (see photo to the right). It was a bit too expensive for my liking at $26,000 but as I told the kids, you could fix it yourself and there would be no electronics to mess with. The issue would be in getting parts for a vehicle that old.

On the drive home Bobby mentioned that he liked doing crafts that didn’t take to long, and this is why he liked to play with clay. This got me to thinking. I saw a YouTube video where you can create Roblox and Minecraft figures out of clay, and put a magnet on their back to attach them to a metal plate. Well, I think that might be a project that Bobby would like to do! I went to Home Depot this evening with Katie to check out the sheets of metal. I’m going to get a large photo of a Roblox wallpaper backdrop from Staples. I ordered some clay and acrylic paint from Amazon this evening. Hopefully this is a father/son project that Bobby will enjoy doing together.

Katie and I are thinking of creating a house out of tortilla chips. We could use flour and water to stick them all together. The fun part comes next when we take this huge house down to the chicken coup and watch the chickens destroy it! Fun, fun, fun! The chickens would sure love this as tortilla chips seem to be one of their favorite foods.

This evening Bobby showed me some of his “fiddling skills”. His current Suzuki teacher is having them learn how to fiddle along with regular class instruction.
