Day #5348 – (Tue., Aug. 27, 2024) – Maple Lake!

I made the chickens an oat cake this morning. I was actually trying to make some vegan “cheese” that contained oats and didn’t turn out well, so I thought that the chickens might like it. They loved it! I was going to clean out their coop today but one chicken has been laying on a nest “forever”… What’s up with that?

Someone looked at my wife’s Canadian permanent residency application today, so hopefully the physical card will be here soon. They didn’t like the photo, it appears that this was the only problem, so my wife and Katie went for a drive this afternoon to Staples to get a new photo.

I drove out to Maple Lake (see photo to the left) this afternoon to try my luck with the new rod I picked up yesterday. I was able to find the path down to the lake, but it was a bit hilly. Once I got down to the lake I found some other trails and and easier one to get to the lake, which I will definitely be using next time! I wore myself out and had to take a nap when I got home. There were a lot of blueberry bushes around the lake so I’m not sure if you need to keep your eyes out for bears?

In regards to fishing, I think I need some casting lessons, and perhaps some instruction about the rod itself. I was able to cast, and the bait did go into the lake, but I didn’t catch any fish. I think that if I could cast it farther into the lake it would be much better. I want to learn how to do this, and perhaps even catch some fish, before I take Bobby. If he went today, and after all this didn’t catch anything, he probably wouldn’t be interested in going back.

Take a look at Katie’s latest art creation (see photo to the left). Beautiful, right? I think she should set up a stall at a farmers market or somewhere to showcase her art.

I got a call from Dr. Ratchapelli’s office. I have a phone appointment with him next Tuesday. He’s normally based in Victoria, but is up in Nanaimo on Friday’s.
