Day #5354 – (Mon., Sept. 2, 2024) – Labor Day!

It’s Labor Day here in Canada! Oh how I remember Labor Day’s growing up as a kid… It was the sign that the great days of summer were over and school would soon be starting up… Same now! Tomorrow is a teacher work day and the kids will be going back to school on Wednesday!

I had to go out to Home Depot again today to pick up another drop cloth for the metal sheet area of the garage, the area that the welding station will be in. While out I picked up some milk, chocolate milk, orange juice, and the Thrifty Food’s version of “Bomb Pops”. While there I noticed the delivery truck (see photo to the right). Sure enough, I looked it up… Thrifty’s is owned by the Nova Scotia grocery giant Sobey’s!

Anthony, the electrical and drywall guy won’t be back till after the garage painting has been done, so there is no need to leave the gate open for him. This means we can close the gate now and keep all the hungry deer and rabbits out of our property. Problem is, something already ate all of our lettuce, so this evening my wife planted some leaf lettuce and radishes.

Katie and my wife have been watching reruns of “The Office”, the US version, on Netflix these days.

Bobby spent quite a bit of time building the plane that he picked up at the museum about 8-9 days ago. The Scottish girls are coming home tonight…

Today was the first real day of working the garage since I spent so much time yesterday running around to get supplies. Today, I:

  1. Caulked the entrance way to the garage attic.
  2. Cleaned the window to get ready for caulking.
  3. Taped the sheet metal area where the welding station will be to protect it from splattering primer and paint.

I was some sore and tired this evening by the time supper time rolled around. I’m glad that I have the “Little Giant” platform ladder to assist me, but it is still a chore to get up and down it.

I’m going to have a great sleep tonight…but when will I get up tomorrow morning? That’s the question!
