Day #5400 – (Fri., Oct. 18, 2024) – Atmospheric River!

It rained like mad all day today as something called an “Atmospheric River” has rolled into town. Here’s what Copilot said about it: “Atmospheric rivers are like giant highways in the sky, transporting huge amounts of moisture from the tropics to other regions. Think of them as rivers of water vapor, often stretching over thousands of miles. When they reach land, they can release significant rainfall, sometimes causing flooding. They play a crucial role in the global water cycle but can be a double-edged sword—bringing both beneficial rain and potentially hazardous weather.” The weather forecast is to rain at least for the weekend. One of the tree branches between the main house and the barn suite was downed due to the high wind (see photo to the left).

Katie went to school today but Bobby is home sick. He took a nap in the afternoon. This evening I went for groceries and got him some milk and orange juice. I was thinking of taking him out fishing this weekend, but even if he gets better, it’s going to be raining like mad, so it looks like we will have to delay our fishing trip for at least a week.

Katie and her friend Annika are thinking about joining the Art Club at Vanier. It will be a great opportunity to meet other people with the same interest, and would look good on a college application as well.
