Day #5469 – (Thu., Dec. 26, 2024) – Boxing Day!
We drove the van down to Subway this morning to try to boost the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid but could not find the battery. In the end we called CAA, the Canadian equivalent of AAA, and they sent a truck out. I was in Subway getting a breakfast sandwich when he showed up. As it turns out, the battery was in the trunk of the Camry! He boosted it with a little handheld gadget and I was off. I should really get one of these gadgets for the Camry as the only time I have ever needed AAA or CAA was due to a dead battery.
My wife took Katie to the Great Canadian Superstore this morning for groceries. I was surprised that things were open as it’s Boxing Day. I guess it’s not as “nailed down” as it was when I was a kid and more stores are open. I didn’t sleep a lot last night so I went to bed for a nap while the rest of the family had Chinese leftovers from yesterday!
We assembled the ping pong table today (see photo to the right). It’s not as big as a regular ping pong table so it fits perfectly in the garage. When the billiard table comes in a few days we will be able to put it next to it. The garage is gradually becoming the “Family Rec Room”!
This evening Katie and I went for a drive. It ended up being a three hour long marathon drive. We went to McDonalds where I “broke down” and had a Big Mac combo, something I have not done in a long while. We talked about adjusting to life here in Canada and I told her that I was proud of her for trying to make the best of it. She said that she was thinking of giving the Scottish girls down the road another chance…
When I dropped Katie off my wife was doing a puzzle and Bobby was in the tub. He played a lot of VR Headset “Gorilla Tag” with Ethan today. According to Katie he is quite loud and yelling and stomping his feet…which is part of playing the game I guess. I told her that if she wants to do her video editing in the future to let me know and I will take Bobby out for a drive so that the house will be quiet.
