Day #5474 – (Tue., Dec. 31, 2024) – New Years Eve!
Today is the last day of 2024! My how time flies! 2025 promised to be an “Eventful” year!
We had a family “8 Ball” tournament this afternoon, boys against the girls (see photo to the left). Bobby showed up with this cardboard hat that he made (see also photo to the left).
We were all pretty evenly matched…meaning we all have room from improvement in regards to our game. We also need to read up on the rules of “8 Ball”… I’m trying to remember how I used to play it. Come to think of it, I was probably Bobby’s age when we got our pool table for the basement in Truro!
The side pocket of our pool table is suspect. If you can get a ball in the “vicinity” it will fall into place. We need to spend some time leveling all the pockets. I see that Home Depot sells these jacks that would be prefect to level the side pockets.
One of the pockets had little nails that came lose. We need to secure it into place again as the plastic part prevents the ball from going in sometimes.
We also need to get a couple of better pool cues. The ones that came with it are not the best. I think many of the cues we saw at the various thrift stores around town have been sold, we need time for them to “restock” and then we will gobble a couple of them up.
It’s dark outside now, but only 9 o’clock, and I hear fireworks. Someone is ushering in the New Years a bit early…
There was a guy with bagpipes who came through our neighborhood close to midnight. My wife went to see him, but the rest of us were sleeping…
