Day #5515 – (Mon., Feb. 10, 2025) – Manual Can Opener

Bobby is sick today so no school for him. Katie went to school but left early because she didn’t want to go to PE class. Her mom picked her up in the van.

I took Katie for a drive this evening, effectively Daddy/Daughter Day #154, because it was so nice and sunny out. This is the first time the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid has been out in several days. I was planning to take a shortcut to downtown Courtenay, but was talking to Katie and missed the turn, so we ended up on the highway and to downtown Courtenay via the Canadian Tire route. No problem, Katie wanted to go to Starbucks so this was the first time we went to the Courtenay location. We usually go to the one close to Comox, near the Home Depot and Thrifty Foods.

Katie wanted to go to McDonalds as well, so we stopped off there. She wanted two cheeseburgers and fries, but no drink, but it was actually cheaper to get the “2 Cheeseburger EVM” rather than buy each component separately. After that I went to Thrifty Foods for supplies. My wife wanted milk, chicken noodle soup, and some vanilla drinkable yogurt. Her can opener broke so I picked up a manual one (see photo to the right). She has an automatic one on order from Amazon.

Katie still wants to do to Vancouver during spring break, but doesn’t want to take the art camp being offered by Emily Carr University. We are looking into whether we can get a refund or not.

As of this evening Bobby is still not feeling well, but he hopes to go to school tomorrow.
